Singing, dancing, a parade and a pint or two - the Irish have always known how to party and celebrating St Patrick's Day in London is no exception.
St Patrick's Day is on Thur March 17 this year, with the main parade taking place on Sun March 13 2016. The day is dedicated to the Patron Saint of Ireland. Along with the religious aspects of the Saint's day, the festival is traditionally celebrated with 'wearing of the green' and shamrocks. The biggest of the festivities take place in Ireland but St Patrick's Day is widely celebrated by Irish ex-pats around the world.
On the Sunday before the big day (Sun March 13 2016) follow the St Paddy's parade, then head to Trafalgar Square for a whole load o' craic. There'll be dancing, singing, Irish food and Gaelic-themed things to do with kids. The parade will feature pageantry, floats and a marching band. Last year it started at Green Park and passed along to Piccadilly and Whitehall but details for 2016 are still to be confirmed.
There will also be a festival in Trafalgar Square for the day, which usually features comedy, film, entertainment and plenty of live Irish music and dancing.
And don't forget to wear GREEN.
